The Birthstone Book Tag

I haven’t done a book tag in ages and ages, so while I trawl my way through the last half of ‘Lady Midnight’, I thought I would feel the void on my blog with a nice book tag. I saw this one and thought it was unusual, but sounded fun.

GARNET (January) – Wards off negative energies: The darkest/ most evil book character:

It would have been impossible for me to not mention this book during this book tag, or any book tag for that matter! ‘Carry On’ by Rainbow Rowell is one of my favourite books of all time. It is seriously that good and it contains the Insidious Humdrum, a character that is just made up of darkness and evil. It would have been awful for me to not put it on the list. The Summer Reader Tag

Hi guys! So, you may notice that it is not summer any more, so I’m a little late…Anyway I was nominated to do this by Parneet @ The Enchanted Book.

Okay, here we go!

Lemonade: A book that started out bitter, but got sweeter.

Not a book but a series. I did not like Throne of Glass when I first started, but after Heir of Fire I was like, yaas!

Golden Sun: A book that made you smile.

A book that made me smile was Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout. Daemon and Katy make me smile!

Tropical Flowers: A book set in another country.

Daughter of Smoke and Bone is set in Austria, right? Yeah, I did not like that book…

Tree Shade: A mysterious character in a book.

There is only one I can think of. Wolf from Scarlet by Marissa Meyer.

Beach Sand: A book with a grainy plot.

Ummm… Daughter of Smoke and Bone again? Yes! #ThrowingShade

Green Grass: A character full of life.

Frank from Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson.

Watermelon: A book with juicy secrets

The 5th Wave, I have to agree.

Summer Fun: Tags!

I tag all the humans…

The Historical Figures Book Tag

Hey guys, this week I thought that I would make my own book tag, so here it is. I looked around for similar tags, but did not find anything, so if you already made this tag, please tell me so I can give you credit.

The rules of this tag:

  1. Link to both the original post on this blog and to the person or people who tagged you.
  2. For each figure and question, answer with just one book. Some questions have alternate answer options, so feel free to answer both.
  3. Tag five other bloggers of your choice.

(Please note that these questions are not final and they can be altered as you wish)

The Tag:

  1. Marilyn Monroe: The most glamorous book you have ever read.

For this I am choosing The Diviners by Libba Bray, because I do not think you can get any more glamorous than the flappers of 1920s New York.

2. Winston Churchill: The best leader within a book and why.

I would have to say that Katniss Everdeen from The Hunger Games was a great leader in my opinion. She was very influential and actually quite a good orator. There was no one better to lead the rebellion against Snow.

3. Adolf Hitler: The most ruthless book dictator.

I am going to have to say the King of Adarlan from the Throne of Glass series, because that guy is so cold blooded it makes me shiver. Never mind throne of glass, more like heart of stone.

4. Maya Angelou: The character who brought about the most change, or had the most personal development.

I am actually tempted to say Katniss again, but I guess that would be a cop out… I guess I will say Clary Fray from the Mortal Instruments, because she changed a lot throughout the books. She went from being stupid and making bad decisions to bad ass and righteous as hell! Love you Clary!
5. Queen Elizabeth II: Your most favourite member of a royal family from within a book.

Well this is a toug one actually, as I can’t really think of anyone I would probably say Princess Nehemia from Throne of Glass, because she is certainly one of the nicest and the most interesting.

6. Albert Einstein: The kookiest, craziest, most bonkers books character ever!

I am a fan of the crazy characters in books, because they make me happy with their craziness. It brings more life into the books. However, I am finding it hard to think of one in particular. I am going to have to say Magnus Bane from The Mortal Instruments series agin. Especially having read The Bane Chronicles, I would say he is the craziest of all and has the best adventures.

7. Brutus: The most betraying character of all the characters.

I hate these characters with a passion! I am going to say that Blackwell from The Witch Hunter by Virginia Boecker, because he is a slimy guy who betrays even those most close to him and is also greedy and power hungry.

Day and Night Tag

D: Do you read more in the morning or at night?

I tend to read whenever I have a spare moment, so neither and both.

A: Are there any books that changed the way you thought about things?

Yes, Perks of Being a Wallflower by Stephen Chbotsky.  This is something that really made me think about anxiety and being a teenager in general.

Y: YA or not?

YA all day everyday. If it’s not YA I probably haven’t read it, if it is I probably have.

A: Are there any characters you honestly believe to be real?

I wish some of the characters were real, but I’m not stupid enough to believe any of them are real… I’m not insane…

N: Nobody borrows my books or I don’t mind lending them out?

I am actually the kind of person who will lend my books out to anyone who I class as friend or family. However, I think I want to start a hardcover collection, so no longer! And my signed copy of City of Heavenly Fire by Cassandra Clare is never leaving my place of residence.

D: Do you ever smell your books?

Yes, all the time. Don’t judge me…

N: Not everyone likes books, is this a positive or a negative?

I: I keep my books in the best condition or maybe not? Which are you?

My paperbacks look like trash. Like I said, I’m starting to buy more and more hardcovers.

G: Gosh I have too many books! True or False?

I actually only own 49 books, which is not a lot compared to some other bloggers and booktubers I’ve seen. I want more books!

H: Have you ever spilled or stained your books before with something, and if so how?

No, never. My friends have… (I have no idea how…)

T: Toned or untoned while reading? . . or in other words. . .Do you read and workout at the same time?

Ha! Working out, don’t be ridiculous. Also, I’m really bad at multi-tasking

The Taylor Swift Book Tag

This tag is dedicated to Taylor swift and her music. In this tag I will take different Taylor swift songs, relate them to different books and say why I have done so. So, lets begin with….

Song: We Are Never Getting Back Together

Book/ Series: ‘Divergent’ by Veronica Roth

For this song, I had to choose a series that I thought I loved when  I started it, but then decide that I’m going to leave it. This is exactly what I did with the ‘Divergent’ series by Veronica Roth. In fact, I didn’t even finish ‘Insurgent’!

Song: Red

Book: ‘Messenger of Fear’ by Michael Grant

For this son, I had to simply choose a book with a red cover. This book is only a few books down my TBR pile, so you will get a review of it soon hopefully. I decided that I had to choose this book, because it is basically completely red and caught my eye immediately.

Song: Best Day

Book: ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ by J.K. Rowling

For this song, I had to pick a book that made me feel nostalgic. What better book than one of the first full length books I ever read. The entire series will forever have a special place in my book-loving heart.

Song: Love Story

Book: ‘City of Ashes’ by Cassandra Clare

For this song, I had to choose  book that contained forbidden love. The love in the ‘Mortal Instruments’, particularly within the first three books, is rightly forbidden. Clace forever!!

Song: I Knew You Were Trouble

Book: ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ by Sarah J. Maas

For this song, I had to choose a character from a book that is the bad guy, but I love them anyway. For this I had to choose Rhysand from ‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ by Sarah J. Maas. He comes a cross so wvil, but he does it s charmingly that it is hard not to like him at least a little!

Song: Everything Has Changed

Book: ‘We Were Liars’ by  E. Lockhart

For this song, I had to choose a character that underwent extensive character development. For this I chose Cadence Sinclair Eastman from ‘We Were Liars’ by E. Lockhart. I read this book very recently and loved it. Cadence realised a lot about herself in this book, and I mean a lot.

Song: You Belong With Me

Book: ‘All of the Above’ by James Dawson

For this song, I had to choose a book release that I was most anticipating. For this I chose ‘All of the Above’ by James Dawson which is to be released at the end of this year. I am so excited for this book!!

Song: Forever and Always

Book: ‘Eleanor and Park’ by Rainbow Rowell

For this song, I basically had to decide on my book OTP. Obviously I had to choose Eleanor and Park!!

Song: Come Back, Be Here

Book: ‘Remix’ by Non Pratt

For this song, I had to choose a book which I was not willing to lend out to anyone. I am not ever going to lend out my copy of ‘Remix’ by Non Pratt, just because she signed it for me at this year’s YALC event.

Song: Teardrops On My Guitar

Book: ‘Undone’ by Cat Clarke

For this song, I had to choose a book that made me cry. I DON’T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT!!

I hope you enjoyed this tag and thanks for reading!!

Creatures of the Night – Book Tag #1

The Creatures of the Night Book Tag was created by the BookTuber Katytastic. In this tag you have to name a supernatural creature and say what your favourite book is that includes that creature. Katytastic’s video is down below:

Creature: Ghost/Ghoul

Book: ‘The Diviners’ by Libba Bray

The main ghost in ‘The Diviners’ is called ‘Naughty John Hobbes’. John commits increasingly gruesome murders as part of a sacrificial cult offering.I read this book at night time and I must say that a ghost has never chilled me more than Naughty John Hobbes. He even has a creepy theme song!

Creature: Vampire

Book: ‘The Coldest Girl in Coldtown’ by Holly Black

Unlike ‘The Diviners’, I cannot pick out a singular vampire from ‘The Coldest Girl in Coldtown’ to be my favourite. Instead, I think the vampire inclusive world that Holly Black has managed to create is one of my favourite worlds ever. Never has being a vampire looked so glamorous, mainly due to the media influences in the book; something that reflects with our own world. It also has bloodthirsty bloggers!

Creature: Zombie

Books: ‘The Enemy’ series by Charlie Higson.

‘The Enemy’ series by Charlie Higson is about the cliché world of a zombie apocalypse, but is unique in its own right. In this world the kids aren’t affected by the disease and are left to rule the world  and fight off cannibalistic adults. Now, I haven’t read many other zombie books, but I’m pretty sure this is one of the best anyway…

Creature: Werewolf

Books: ‘The Harry Potter’ series by J.K. Rowling

How is it possible to not choose Remus Lupin as your favourite werewolf character? Not only are the Harry Potter books the best books ever, but Lupin as a character has so many different layers. In the third book we see him as a teacher and mentor to Harry. Toward the end of the series, we see him as a warrior against the Dark Lord. And, my personal favourite, we see him in love with Tonks…

Creature: Faerie

Book: ‘A Court of Thrones of Roses’ by Sarah J Maas

‘A Court of Thorns and Roses’ shows Faeries in a different light to that of many other fantasy books. They are normally fierce, cruel and very, very manipulative. Some of the characters are exactly like this, but some like Lucien and Tamlin aren’t as cold-hearted as the folklore says they should be. Speaking of which, the Faerie folklore is the most intricate and detailed of the ones I’ve looked at.

Creature: Angel

Books: The Hush Hush’ sequence by Becca Fitzpatrick.

Patch is the main angel character in the ‘Hush Hush’ sequence and I find his character to be rather ironic. This is mainly due to the fact that he is devilishly and at times annoyingly sexy and charming. I dare you to read the books and not fall at least a little in love with Patch. It is quite possible Becca Fitzpatrick has created one of the most desirable book characters ever. Well done you…

Creature: Demons

Books: ‘The Mortal Instruments’ series by Cassandra Clare.

Demons in the world of Shadowhunters go from disgusting and gooey to vindictive and powerful. The are truly vile either way, but I have a lot to thank them for. If they weren’t attacking things, then there would be no need for incredibly handsome Shadowhunters to run around in tight leather outfits… Ahem… And, if Magnus’ father hadn’t impregnated his mother under false pretences, we wouldn’t have Magnus! Of course his mother wouldn’t have killed herself, but then we wouldn’t have had #MALEC. I guess one man’s loss is another man’s gain.

So that is it for this book tag, I hope that if you read it, you enjoyed it.
