Starting over sucks. When we moved to West Virginia right before my senior year, I’d pretty much resigned myself to thick accents, dodgy internet access, and a whole lot of boring…until I spotted my hot neighbor, with his looming height and eerie green eyes. Things were looking up. And then he opened his mouth. Daemon is infuriating. Arrogant. Stab-worthy. We do not get along. At all. But when a stranger attacks me and Daemon literally freezes time with a wave of his hand, well, something…unexpected happens. The hot alien living next door marks me. You heard me. Alien. Turns out Daemon and his sister have a galaxy of enemies wanting to steal their abilities, and Daemon’s touch has me lit up like the Vegas Strip. The only way I’m getting out of this alive is by sticking close to Daemon until my alien mojo fades. If I don’t kill him first, that is.

This book potentially has the most sexual tension in any book ever. Katy and Daemon. Katy and Daemon! KATY AND DAEMON! Romance in this book moves slowly. So slowly that it is almost teasing. You know it’s there between them, you can FEEL it and it is so frustrating to read. BUT SO GOOD!

I have already got the next book and will be reading it soon. Katy is a character that is so relatable and that is partly why I enjoyed this book so much. She is also a book blogger. SHE IS ONE OF US!

The narrative is so funny that I laughed out loud multiple times. Granted, I did get dirty looks from members of the public on multiple occasions. Not that I cared at all… I don’t actually understand how a writer can write that well and so relatably. I am actually inspired to read more Jeniffer L Amrentrout (I have ordered Half-Blood into the library!).

Also, can I just say that sexy aliens is a new one for me. Vampires and werewolves have so been done. I AM SO OVER IT.

5/5 stars for Obsidian by Jennifer L Armentrout
